I would plan to do gutters, dryloc paint on the interior brick, and a dehumidifier at a minimum.

I've worked on buildings in Texas as a structural engineer and there are always extra provisions that we must put into place to design against heaving.

After all, Civil Engineers are using 100+ years old formulas to design bridges, tunnels and buildings.
