However, it's important to have cameras for a few reasons, to verify check-ins, security when vacant, evidence in the event of an incident, violations of pet policy, etc. 

If/when issues arise with the tenants I would just always refer back to the lease on reasons why they can or cannot do something I.e  having pets in the bedroom.

It's not only the lease, you need a lot of other forms like application, lease, rules &regulations, lead disclosure, pet agreement, smoke and CO notice, non-standard lease provisions to name a few.

Just the right owner could and might try, to "go to town" on you for "hurting" their precious pet.
