I've rented vacation properties several times and they always work more like a hotel than a rental.

Short term leases attract hotel tax and the economics don't work.

It is a condo that can be used as a hotel by the operator of the building and there is an arrangement were any "room nights" are shared with the owner. 

@Christopher Yates  we've never participated in a court house auction but we have participated in an on site auction.com auction (on site meaning we were in a California hotel ballroom participating while other people were on line.)  

But off the beaten path is mostly salons, spas, massage, hotels, million dollar condos, office,....

I read HotelNewsNow & Hotel Management magazine to stay up to date on the hotel sector (among others).  

I am very ambitious, I want to someday own my own luxury hotels as well as luxury condo buildings.

Does anyone know of anyone or groups that are buying hotels and large apartment buildings? 

I am trying to figure out how much equity I would need to raise to build a hotel.

Interested in beat up hotels.
