as u know, its OUTRAGEOUS for many homes here in FL.my one rental is in flood zone A (aka flood zone 'get the hell outta here') and is required by my mortgage company. the first year i lived in the home my insurance was about $4k. we are talking about an 1100 sq ft home that is elevated (bottom is garage and then 2 stories of living space).fortunately, citizens started writing hazard and wind together so now i just have a hazard/wind policy for about $600 (no contents since i dont live there) and my flood at about $1000. craziness!
