I am an aspiring RE investor from the Orange County, CA area.Hoping to get some insight on the procedures I should follow in order to get permission to build a 2nd story addition.I've been debating whether to build up or build out for an ADU that is on my lot.

If you are getting push back from attorney and realtor they better have a good story as to why it is worth fixing.    

What is the story on the other side? 

Short story is, as long as you purchase something that cashflows or comes close to cashflowing, then I'd recommend buying.
