I think it's hard to hold a tenant accountable for anything outside of their own room for the period that you were a roommate there, since in our state, roommates are held jointly liable for repairs.

In court, a tenant will win.... just keep that in mind ...I was taken to a small claim court years ago....it was a joint tenancy when one tenant moved out half way into the lease... the remaining tenant took over.... when he moved the pool was totally wrecked and I charged him for it.... he argued he should only pay half of it...Took time off my day job,flew to AZ, becasue I was so sure I would win....And, yes, you guessed the order ruling...
