I would ask to do so right after the public meeting so they don't have time to prep.Previous landlord references are a waste of time in terms of what they will tell you...if the current tenant is a problem, most will tell you how wonderful they are just to get them peacefully & quickly out of THEIR rental.

In Warren there are still houses around 100K , and I have visited months ago and seem peaceful city with old houses, and some people I know already bough houses there around Mile 14 and Ryan , which is my area of interest since I know it from couple of visits.Also I was seeing some people online complaining that Michigan no longer landlord friendly due to extra taxes and bias toward tenant ?
