Jeff, I don't have much direct landlording experience yet, as I focus on active (vs. passive) investing in single family, and my passive RE investments are truly passive, in apartments.That said, if you have kids and are focused on their educational attainment, school districts are another data point renters look at, along w/ other factors, to determine how much they'll pay and pick one property over another.BTW, I have a great rental home in Richland Hills (Birdville ISD) for sale.

You can ask a realtor to send you data on the supply of homes.

You can buy lists or you can make your own using country data.

One did make me do it, two others had to "check on it" for a couple days and then gave me the data, and the other 3 cities I have done this with handed it right over, no questions asked.

Are you seeing the transactions take place and you want to know who is buying them all, owner occupied vs investor, etc - basically looking for data?

I looked through the list of foreclosures that i found on the county website but the data related to back taxes was not in the datasbases that the county provides. 

Another interesting thing is that while Google may know how many people are interested in RE at any given point in time, you also would be able to get similar data by monitoring blog page views and number of newbies joining BP on any given day.
