Many times those are the folks looking for a quick fix - aka gamble for a long shot.  

@Dan Heuschele Great post and I love that you gave examples of you buying at the top of the market and being okI think it's funny that people will put money in the stock market based off historical returns, but think that expecting cities with high appreciation to continue appreciating is gambling

In many cases these investors put almost all or a considerable part of their net worth buying these type of properties and that can be in many cases nothing more than gambling.

I plan on getting started in either Detroit, Michigan  or Indianapolis, Indiana but its more likely that I’ll start my house hacking adventure in Indianapolis since this is where I currently live then eventually spread out to Detroit.

I am overjoyed at the thought of being able to take my dad on an adventure he has always wanted to do!
