The better you prepare your self and arm yourself with knowledge the more things you will find that fit with you that will increase the chances of you succeeding upon discovery will turn out to be the best thing for you to get started with. 

Bookkeeping/Accounting/Tax preparation : Some softwares offer linking bank account and credit card with the software and semi automatic bookkeeping is possible.

What should I prepare for?

Prepare for an eviction but you have to let the problem manifest itself before you take any real action.

So be prepared to be on hold for a bit before you can really access that equity to use for other investments.
