I've seen a few different options for calculating depreciation and am wondering how to get the most bang for my buck.Depreciation does somewhat depend on the timing, however I would be strongly against making purchasing decisions based on taxes.

It really depends on what you want to do.  

I live outside of Winnipeg, but would be willing to travel for meetups.

I live in Ca, but I’m looking to learn all about Washington state (Seattle) markets. 

I stressed "typically" because in the legal world the answer is always: "it depends". 

I read you have to live in the home, but was unsure if we would qualify.
