I am not a lawyer and you need the advice of a local attorney - - I am reporting ONLY what I have been told, so it's third had info to you from me.A WILL communicates Who gets What, but only AFTER going thru probate which wastes  a  lot of time and can be expensive.A Living Trust is similar, but declares Who are the beneficiaries as well as the Successor Trustees who will act as the Executor(s) of the Estate after all of the trustees who formed the  Living Trust demise.
