Could be that THEY have sewage issues that originated peripherally (above ground) and they are merely complaining about their problem specific to their lot.

Out of my experience (in business overall) everything will fall in place when you take action and have a clear vision of what you want to achieve. 

My dilemma is getting my wife to be on board and understand my vision.  

Tunnel vision on one particular aspect only erodes clarity on the bigger picture.  

My vision is that this would be a relationship where we hold each other accountable, discuss goals and action we have or will take, take action together, and both grow substantially faster than we would alone.

PEOPLE HAVE NO VISION.

I would always go back to my vision or personal plan.

If you, or someone else (this needs to be the same person every day),  won't have the time every day to "babysit" the rehab, if you don't have extensive experience in rehab, if you don't have a large cash savings that will be tapped during rehab process (at the least enough to cover the holding costs...and then some)...remember, there will be no income coming in during the very long rehab process, I would avoid any long term involvement that is based on a vision of gold. 

The clearer your vision of what you want, the more you can come across as someone to work with for each of these professionals.
