The listing agent (at least in WA so I can only assume elsewhere...) cannot withhold knowledge of a material defect, well, they can, but they could be held liable later by a court and/or their MLS.

@Cenddie Alaban,     There are soo many ways to acquire property and some of those listed by others above.  

Fill out a "Personal Financial Statement" which lists all of your assets; liabilities; and cash flow.  

Look for good reviews on Angie's List too.

I have located a vacant property that has property management papers taped up in the windows but it is not listed as a foreclosure with the County Trustee.

You can call the listing agent and ask them what they think but most likely they're going to tell you to not even waste your time.
