Again, best to check with a CPA.  

It's ridiculous.. but check your contract, there is a probably a minimum you will be charged, likely  1/4- 1/2 their hourly rate per email.  

@Julie WashburnUnless this situation is covered in the lease I would not do it.Loss of revenue can be covered through an insurance policy, something they would have to have set up.If its their fault the pipes froze, they are likely on the hook for the damages, check the lease.

Hey All,I'm considering buying a SFH that was originally a duplex where the dividing wall was removed.The house will need some renovation (paint, flooring, new bathroom, new dividing wall, and also another HVAC).I checked the zoning and it's ok for multifamily (R3).What else should I consider before making an offer?

Reality checks welcome as I do tend to romanticize projects. 

I would also turn off the water and turn it on slowly as I checked for leaks after the dethaw.

They can check on the property between every guest as needed or respond when there are immediate issues.
