The government will absolutely claim most of all of the proceeds of a home in order to make itself whole - that said, unless she lied about her assets, that usually happens on the front end of getting care.

People lie about some things so I  ask reason for moving so I can screen out 1 year residents and I put non-smoking but expect that people will lie about that so if they smell like smoke I just eliminate them at showing.

In my opinion stocks (really meaning equities) and real estate work out similarly many times, but seem very different because of the location of the person lying to you.
