One of its main benifits is giving you direct control and access to your own money, no need to ask for a check you simply write your own and it comes out of your IRA account.

They control what happens in the condo.

@Peter Sanchez I am a value investing enthusiast and 100% agree that stock market principals apply equally well here.On the other point, I think its important to point out that real estate really is not as indexable as other investments because of the vast differences even block by block, the inefficiency of the market, the fact that many buyers are not actual investors but utility seekers and that you control the asset in RE vs. stock market investing which means you can actually add value.

So as I think it through probably better to keep complete control and not change anything.
