A single cylinder has one cylinder for a key and a thumblatch on the opposite side.A double cylinder needs a key for each side, hence the danger for someone living inside if they have to get out fast and cannot find the key.

One apartment had quite a bit, the other very little.We split the difference and charged $20, cash only, for the application fee. 3 applicants, only one cleared a public records search (what makes 'em think we're not going to find a recent conviction for 'controlled dangerous substance, heroin'?

Another tenant in a duplex that I kicked out (inherited tenant) because they infested the whole place with fleas ...like serious horrible fleas that had to be sprayed 4 times to treat after they moved out.....from their dirty smelly dogs ...that smelled like dirty dog the first second you walked through the foyer and they had a horrible dangerous dog that was vicious & large and go after repairmen or anyone it saw.

While I don't know about Brownsville because I have not been there, I do know McAllen and I can say that for me it seems a peaceful place, where you can wander around without any danger if you are willing to get burnt by the extreme sun and heat.
