I repeated the process and sold the second house prior to departing for the US Air Force Academy in 1979.

I was already considering real estate investing on a small scale, similar to what a lot of Air Force type characters do, by living in a house and renting the remaining rooms. 

The home only has window units and the seller does not have the funds to install central heat and air which is the main thing holding this house back.

Michael, this may seem like public airing of underware.  

I'm an Air Force guy myself and just got started with real estate investing about 8 months ago.

I know there must be some allure to it since it gets so much air time..

I didn't show the picture of the neighbor's property (as it isn't my place to post it online) but the roots from the tree lifted their shed and deck nearly 15 feet into the air.

So until I start raking in some money to fund this, it's up in the air my friend.

In the ad we used photos from another unit, because as you can see from the first two photos below the original condition of this unit wasn't such that it would attract the type of tenants that we like to rent to.Before:There are always surprises in any renovation, and one of those in this redo was a hole in the kitchen subfloor where a leaking icemaker water supply line had rotted the floor.That was a quick and easy repair, but more expensive was replacing about 50 sq ft of the hardwood floor under the carpet in the main room, which had been water damaged by water leaking from the old (since replaced) through-the-wall air conditioner.
