Not sure if these numbers would work in your current area, but you probably want to own in an appealing area for other tech workers to ensure you're getting quality tenants as well as live in an area you like and enjoy yourself.

It took 2 years of my life away from what I enjoy which is speaking to teaching real estate ( we fired the GC and I took on the responsibility of running these jobs) Good learning experience, and I needed a break after the Hedge funds came to Charlotte and cleaned single family homes out.
