You would need to check with your local city permitting department and if your property is in a subdivision with HOA or deed restrictions you will want to verify you can build a second dwelling on the same lot.

Seems like prices have gone up since then and the new STR ordinance was passed recently that is suppose to reduce the supply of unpermitted dwellings like cabins and tents. 

I also like to get extended dwelling replacement if possible.

However, in most areas, you are only allowed to do this on your own personal dwelling (where you live).
