With a 15+ year time horizon, your focus should not be on speculating which markets will appreciate faster or slower - that is very difficult to predict over such a long period and markets that are expected to be hot in the next few years may fizzle out 10-15 years from now.Good luck with your endeavors!

I had to come out of pocket $500 (roughly 1 months payment) because it had depreciated faster than I was paying the loan down.After that I decided not to waste significant money on a depreciating asset.

Any way to make this go faster?

They wouldn't need their money to work as hard as someone who has to hit a home run and grow the money much faster.
