They do not have enough cash to do the writedowns.They are currently making enough income until they get to writedowns.Fannie and Freddie have failed many times before, they will fail againAND SO IT GOES.........

This isn't necessarily the case...Where I live, greater than 50% of all offers made on REOs with FHA financing fail to close.Banks understand this, so they are oftentimes hesitant to allow non-cash (or non-conventional) financing.

By the way, Pre-WWII Germany was the BEST example of Keynesian Theory put in motion - it failed beyond belief in record time, bringing Germany to no other choice but expansive MILITARY budgets with the attendant military action to support the whole notion of fiscal expansion by Government spending (Keynes, pure and simple).
