Some require 20% skin the game so depending on what you're looking at you may need to come up with a little bit more money.

That would at least show some skin in the game for you.  

That doesn't mean it tells the REI anything of value...on the surface. 

I personally would rather talk with my uncle and go into a deal together even if I have a small percentage, so I have some skin in the game.

It is a full time job to develop and to keep your GC on a timeline if they don't have any financial skin in the game.

The repair cost is high and these are issues that could continue to surface after spending thousands to fix them.

@Ben M.You will not get an appraisal done in that time but the HML may use a conservative number and require you to have more skin in the game.

I would work with a contractor and learn some trades at a surface/detailed level if you choose.
