My experience with customs is that the delays are usually on the client side, there is no way I'm signing the agreement, as is.I spoke to another buddy that is a custom builder and he said the way he handles it is that he gets his client to run his contract requirements through their lender.

Don't do it yourself, so you stay out of the "was it clean enough" argument.

When I told him that all of them need to do a credit/background check, and after some argument as to why I require that, he then said it would just be him and and his store manager. 

I has a custom trailer build that is I think 6 feet wide, 10 feet deep and 8 feet wide and the trailer works out far better than any van I ever owner.
