Hey @Traolly Xiong,The Fire Summit event looks legit although I have no first hand experience.The only thing I noticed is that the testimonials at thinkmultifamily.com about the event are all videos of people explaining why they came to the event and what they are hoping to get out of it.I didn't find any of people saying that they had their expectations met or exceeded.Just an observation.

Neither of us had construction or remodeling experience- we watched a lot of YouTube videos and had our fair share of trial and error. :) if I can do tiling, seriously anyone can!

There are plenty of helpful how to videos on you tube to guide you.  

If your lease truly says landlord is responsible for all aspects of HVAC (repair,replace, maintenance contracts) then next step might be too take video and pictures with time and date to log the problem.
