Get the book Photovoltaic Design and Installation by Ryan Mayfield on Amazon on paperback, or Kindle and read it carefully before you install solar so you know exactly what will work, what will not work, exactly what type system you need and then when you talk to solar installation companies you will sort of know what you want.

Thanks so much in advance,MauricioHi Mauricio,If it were mine, I'd stay out of it 100%.I'd let the courts tell these two what the laws of California have to say about this.You have a disability renter in a SFH, and they have stated they are ready to go to court.That's where I'd leave it.As long as the monthly rent keeps coming in, I'd let the Judge sort it out for them.https://www.youtube.com/watch?

You can check with a land use planner who usually can do this sort of investigation as well for a fee but the first two things shouldn't cost more than a few bucks for copies of permits or what the assessor's office has for their records.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like you cant throw him out because you'll go broke without his rent payment.. either that or you have some sort of strong tenant laws that prevent booting him.
