It would appear that the landlord is required to pay 5% simple interest for anything over $50.I read somewhere else that interest is paid at the prevailing rate.

They mentioned several times that prices started at $1,000 on some houses (but of course made no mention of a reserve price) and they interviewed one buyer, who apparently bought a property for 75% of it's "worth", which paging through their catalog appears to be the highest price it had ever been listed for.The reporterette never once mentioned an actual price that someone paid for a house.

Sure enough, they were all there and high as a kite: the tenant, her shack-up SECOND boyfriend; the 14 year old and his shack-up teeny bopper girlfriend; and the two small children who appeared to be unharmed.

But, at the same time I would do whatever's reasonable (while not appearing desperate or weak) to protect my own interest.I've always found it's best to have a listening ear and empathize with the tenant.

Here, you can charge an equivalent of one month's rent only as security deposit and the court has subsequently ruled that the "one month's rent" it is equivalent to is the very first month's rent.
