While the issues would be basically the same, I could finance my equity in an installment contract to you where I'm not the owner in title but finance my equity in the deal, that would be seller financing but not owner financing.

In all honesty, it's more common for me to see vacant homes with basement walls needing EXPENSIVE repairs due to poor landscaping and/or improperly installed gutters.In short, I'd say keep your options open regarding vacant slab homes. :)

We are also getting way off topic from the OP's success of her deal, so if you feel the need to drill deeper, there are thousands of posts on this subject you can disagree with and I'd be happy to address it.BTW, she's in Texas, they have different laws effecting lease-option deals, they don't like installment sales in TX.

The tools to acquire or control are: Sub2 without a note Sub2 with a note Wrap - AITD Lease Option (with intentions to sell your interests as opposed to sandwich) Land Trust Purchase Land Contract Purchase (Installment Sale) Private First Mortgages for free and clear houses The strongest possible transaction for a buy and hold is a sub2, where you get the deed.
