@Jonathan Streufert - as for the length in time, most non-bank lenders will do 10, 15, or 30 year terms.

I wanted to chat with someone who has actually done this & pick their brain on costs to build etc.

Sorry, but REI's are a waste of time (generally).It is a meeting where everyone brags about how great they are doing, and do small talk about investing, exchange business cards that absolutely amounts to nothing, and then chat and mingle.

Would love to chat with you about the area and also see if you can recommend anyone who's a reliable and we'll also need a reputable RE agent.

But of course, this does mean having to work with someone I barely know, in a more intimate way than a hard money lender would require.

I would be happy to chat with you more about it as I am pretty familiar with that area.

Then they can make a blog post, video, do a talk show,podcast etc. where it is only 1 hour and below in time.
