Hi Justin,first off, I would like to say that I think paying off the mortgage is a great goal and one that I personally share.My personal opinion is to keep the townhome and look into the possibility of purchasing another property for rental income.

And as @Justin Kovach mentioned the code is pretty much the same because they all follow the same IRC ( just a slight correction in Justins comment - if you are remodeling a residential house you are following the IRC not the IBC, and its the Uniform Construction Code of the State that adopts the different codes not the IBC, hope you don't take offense to corrections Justin ) He is right that they are pretty much the same, NJ has its own version with some changes, but the railing code is the same as PA.
