On the practical side, some tenants that wanted animals but can't have them per their lease, and tenants who wanted to live in an animal-free building, may be angry but being angry is not actionable.

I would choose this property mainly because it is already a tourist destination and there are areas already established for short-term rentals and have regulations in place.

Zoning matters, if it is a condo you must have fourplex zoning to convert it to a fourplex, and it takes months so in practice you would still need to acquire the property to convert it unless the seller was so desperate for a sale and they thought converting it was their best option.

@Jason ShynHi jason,We have an STR in big bear city We bought in April and finished in JULY so far we have been ok and only few weekends left this year.I would be very careful and choose the right cabin,with home prices now its tough if you can recoup your expenses.I would do research on similar cabin sizes youre buying in the area and checking theyre booking also,BBL has more regulations than BBC and make sure you can be issued a permit.For the right cabin and the right price YES its still doable..Good luck happy investing.
