The one I am thinking of involved a resident dying  because another resident was drunk and his lit cigarette was disposed of such that it set the place on fire.

Now that they are gone (strange folks), there is severe cigarette smoke odor concentrated in one of the 2nd floor bedrooms, also affecting the hallway.

I used that to get cigarette smells out of my leather seats in my car, and it worked wonders.Coffee grounds can also work in a similar fashion.Also, open the windows and bring in some big box fans.  

That said, I have a good friend who smokes and when I visited him his apartment didn't smell like cigarettes at all and he always smoked on the balcony.  

In reality I would treat it as if you were to treat cigarette smoke residue.  

They also provide notes, like the house smelled of cigarette smoke.

Well, okay, except cigarettes.

No.I do not want people smoking cigarettes in my houses, much less anything else.

People fall asleep with their cigarette in their mouth.

If someone smoked pot in the rental on occasion, then the old smoke smell wouldn’t cling (unlike cigarettes, where if someone smoked a single cigarette inside, people may smell it for days).
