The investment of a solar array on a house will mean different things for people in different areas in terms of a higher resale value, so while you may have not seen it in your area, there are other areas where it is highly desirable and will command a premium.

@Son D.Generally:Trade or business interest is not limited, except in the case of businesses with aggregate annual gross receipts of $25 million or more for the past 3 tax years, or in the case of tax shelters (what constitutes a tax shelter might surprise you -- it's painted with a pretty broad brush).

Also, at least one of the counties there is going through a county-wide tax reassessment currently, which is going to greatly change some of the tax bills, so keep an eye on that if the Poconos is a consideration.I can't speak to South Florida specifically, but broadly Florida was one of the worst hit markets in the country in the last recession, it might be a consideration to pick up a place down there during the next market bust if you aren't in a hurry.
