As much as I hate annuities, you might speak with an annuity agent about the employer awarding a bonus in the form of a single premium deferred annuity invested in index funds and that you do not have the right to access until a date certain and then a full payout over time.

It depends on the guy you get, but typically not a big deal.

The boss did comment that "I chose you because you're the rich guy".   

This guy bought the laundromat and is making almost $4,000 a month net profit.

Hate wasting effort. 

I would confirm the other four owners and would not buy there is they were all the same family, it will just be miserable most likely trying to deal with 4 against 1 (unless they all hate each other).Your second concern is valid and correct.
