Building codes and materials have come a long way and if you dont account for the expense up front it may be really painful post purchase.Personally I had to completely replace plumbing including the sewer drain pipes under the foundation because they were cast iron (pay me now or pay me later situation) and electrical because of code.  

The upside is that you limit the amount of pain you will experience if you follow through.

All of the folks on here from all over America dont really understand how SF rent control works.. its more like NYC   .. its just not hey your too much of  pain your evicted. :)

Genuine question and a pain point for me, when I have worked with financial advisers in the past.

I mean just think about the PAIN we go through buying a car.then think about how U buy a Tesla.. takes all of 5 to 10 minutes on line and its done and that include financing if your not paying cash. you get an e mail that your car is ready.. its more like buying a new airplane.. 

Getting permits and passing inspections is so painful in our area.

Hi All, I’ve been using the BRRRR strategy lately and would say that my most painful piece of the process is lender vetting.

Also, yes SONYMA is a pain in the butt, and banks / credit unions always ask for documents multiple times and at the last minute.
