They can take it or leave it and in my experience it has worked out just fine for me.RoyalT I must apologize but I do disagree that banks aren't stupid.Not all of them of course (maybe) but show me someone who has a wonderful fuzzy feeling for a bank.

I would check with state regulations, if you are doing this to pay in state tuition you will need to put the house under your childs name, have all the bills go to him there and do not claim them on your taxes as a dependent, ( check with your State though) i found this out in PA and could not claim in state because they were not " on their own and non dependent on the parents". so i disagree with Thomas S. had to say about financial aid, if your child owns the house, they may or may not qualify for financial aid, although i think it may help them if it shows that they don't make money and have a lot of dept, the house is also off your list of assets, because they will check your tax returns in determining financial aid. i would definitely talk with a CPA and see what the best strategy is in that situation.
