This type of loan has some advantages over FHA IMO ... the major one being that if/when the property reaches sufficient equity, you can have it appraised and drop the PMI while keeping the same loan terms otherwise.

I've house hacked 6 times now and my advice for your first one would be to max out the FHA loan with as high of a purchase price you can get while still meeting the self sufficiency test.
