Rentals are in high demand around here but in short supply.Here is a fear; with the addition of the apartment on the land I would hope for a yet higher appraisal to be able to use for investing, but is that something to lean on?

Generally the borower should get a release of the note and also a release of the mortgage or deed of trust should be recorded in the land records.

Hi Kristin,NYC from the outside looks like a tricky place for this project.To hear about multifamily in rough shape you will need to find the wholesalers in your area. if you buy one from a wholesaler you will need to pay cash up front.If you are going to use a conventional loan, like Freddie Mac, FHA, the duplex will have to be in good shape, which means retail price.
