Before I managed projects for a flipper, I used to think it would be easy!

I have a project where I've demoed several soffits and need the can lighting that was in them properly terminated.

I use the money to buy the house and do whatever renovations needed to be done making it rent ready.

We paid him about 80% of his fee, he hadn't completed the project and it turns out all the work he DID do wasn't done correctly.If there is anyone that can provide some advice on how to deal with a situation like this, it would be greatly appreciated.We feel like we really got "screwed" on this one especially because we tried to follow all the correct steps in hiring a GC.

I expect it'll be a slow curve here at the beginning with other projects going on, but I want to keep in on my radar and have some of the information coming my way.

I found a 2/1 that I would like to renovate and add an addition on it to make it into a duplex.

This is a project that requires a city permit FYI, but if you are installing windows on a house you live in, you can pull the permit yourself.My husband and I replaced all the windows on the house we live in now - it was one of our first renovation projects.If you hire a contractor usually they will want to purchase the windows themselves, and that cost is included their quotes along with the labor cost for installation.
