I pulled out cash from that to buy another investment property in California that is considered a vacation home, but I am also renting out for short-term vacation rental when we're not using it.

If we are going to rehab the basement we need to pull permits on the property to keep city involved on that front because if a disgruntled tenant or neighbor finds out you're doing something without city involvement they might call you out.  

Also, if no one lives there, and no forwarding address, you will get the letters back so you can pull them off your list...

So, I would really think if this property will really perform as you anticipate before pulling the trigger.
