Usually, if a wire isn't 1.5" inside a wood member, a protective nail plate is used to prevent piercing it.

I have seen a few of these things and most generally, if a seller is so greedy, he'll be taken to the wood shed most of the time.I was selling a locally owned produce stand (building) and land that was a prior gas station.
