Advertise on vrbo or airbnb to get 3-4 times more rent.If you have a large property with 4+ bedrooms, convert it to an assisted living facility.

Real estate would be more expensive but assuming constant mountain/city tourism I could see a greater ROI. 

Also look for properties were you can add value- reasonable renovations as units vacate to attract higher rents, add laundry facilities, or perhaps storage in an unused basement, or extra parking spaces.The right ones are like gold, as new tech people get pushed out of the more expensive areas.

REI can be risky, so adding additional revenue generators into the project can lessen the risk.I'm working on a project in Costa Rica that has investor opportunities in Real Estate (vacation homes etc) Some of the development includes an Event Center with revenue streams from GROUP Travel, Tourism and Events, such as Golf Clinics, Yoga Retreats, Business Education and Corporate Team Building etc.

I don't know of a STR banned city database.You can search through this forum.If you pick a tourist town then you should be OK as they get a lot of revenue from tourism and will likely not do anything to upset that.

There's good money to be made by purchasing the right mobile parks and self storage facilities.

Hello All,I have a friend in the Madison, WI area who is in the process of moving her parents into elderly care facilities.

There is a rich dataset of countries with affordable healthcare.I was shocked when I heard that average long term care facilities in the US cost 8-10K a MONTH and many people go broke in these facilities if their assets are not placed in trusts, and in Canada it's roughly 2-3K per month in US dollars and I don't think US long term care is 4-5x better.
