I feel if we had to sell in a few years, after separating utilities, we could get more.

Hi BP,I've been considering selling my personal residence to free up some liquidity and then leasing it back for some period of time (say, 6-12 months).  

One thing I have been struggling with is finding what properties are actually selling for.

Buy a vacant piece of land close by and offer to store his stuff for free until the house sells. 

If I'm not going to sell the lot, does it matter about the deceased owner or does that only come into play when I try to sell it?

I typically buy or sell from my own portfolio once every two or three years. 

From what I'm seeing folks doing in my neighborhood is marking it up by another $100k and selling them within a month or two after requiring them.

Those premium hikes have caused a lot of investors to sell and when there is scared or stressed sellers it can cause a value drop to the market.
