From my reading of the OP, it sounds as if this owner is being too emotional regarding this house.

Or do we just remove the thread and the OP and go on with our lives?

If the parents are scrimping on their own needs and not saving for their own future and the money is going for the kids "lifestyle choices", then I have a real problem.Now the OP says he's saving for investing, so that's a lot better than going to the club or driving a fancy car.
