@Brian Person The Loan Officer and Real Estate Agent told me the reason for the POA is that I'm currently working out of the country, so I will need someone to sign the closing papers, which was never mentioned on the foreclosure that will close this week.I didn't accept his underwriter's reason and have challenged him to get creative as you mentioned.

Make sure that you're not in violation of any building codes, I'm reasonably certain for example that GFCI's are required within X feet of an interior water tap almost everywhere in the country.

Many older areas of the country still use lead pipes so it is hard to prove who did what wrong, if you only recently purchased a 100 year old home and did not know what material the water line was.
