You can fight the tax bill by appealing every year or you can invest elsewhere.

It gets frustrating when you ask an agent about known issues with a building and they tell you everything is fine, but you can visually see issues at the viewing or find articles online about the issues.Perhaps this is a language barrier or a cultural barrier.

They have various webcasts and articles highlighting the nuances of the industry and the appeal of the asset class.

I am a strong believer in doing everything once (i.e. know how to replace a toilet, lay floor, etc.) however the excitement of rehabbing on weekends and outside of my 50+ hr a week job is losing its appeal fast!

Also, gives the defendant (owner) an appeal if they desire.  

Study the current trends and go for a design that will appeal to what people want. 

Also, you may wish to file a tax appeal/tax grievance, especially since the property is negative cash flowing.

However if your purchase is at arm's length, then that is a compelling piece of evidence at an appeal.
