There aren’t many duplexes in the area to really know what the resale value is as a solid updated duplex. 

Hey guys, how do you determine if you are purchasing a duplex for a solid price?

I wouldn't buy anything with less that 25 years remaining, unless you have a solid exit strategy. 

Like @Nick C. said, no...not unless there are some indicators, like tree roots or cracked concrete....

OK I know, I know, finding solid contractors of ANY kind is already difficult enough, but I'm looking for any leads on nearby builders of small unique home styles: A Frames, Simple Cabins, and other Tiny Homes generally speaking. 

My philosophy is to give the best service possible because my goal is to make clients for life and build a solid referral relationship with my clients.

My advice is find a solid property that doesn't need a ton of work up front and pull the trigger.
