Real estate is going to be your answer , the master key , to getting “ unstuck” if you do it right I’d start by reading everything you can lay your eyes on and start listening to podcasts as well .

It‘s good to know that other investors from outside the US were/are facing the same challenges.Since you are back from the US and only suffering from the jetlag, I guess that you have already mastered the first tough steps of your real estate journey?

The house is around 1000 sqft with 3b/1b, and I'm planning to only have the living/master/kitchen staged due to limited budget.

All of a sudden, all the outlets in my master bedroom stopped work except for one plug in one of the outlets (two plugs per outlet).I tried resetting all the breakers just to be sure, and that didn't fix anything.I'm comfortable with DIY, but electric is something I usually leave to professionals.

Once you have mastered your landlord tenant laws then move onto the more advanced strategies.  

I have essentially begun to cordon off and separate the master bedroom through a series of light walls and a small upgrade to the en suite bathroom.

@Patrick Bennett We are new to REI and researching the Hamilton Area (Mc Master and Niagara College).

Took out some walls, leveled floor and 3 new 60' long beams in the crawl, added master suite, still keeping it 3br 2 ba.

Opened up walls, totally reconfigured the master suite, added lots of custom details like contemporary railing made from pipes, built-ins, concrete counters, antique pantry door and we made it a true 4 bedroom by adding a closet to one of the bonus rooms in the basement.
