Spray painting will not look the same.However I do spray paint wood in various situations.If you make an attempt do as follows.Wipe down the cabinets with a wet drywall sanding block.Spray XIM primer from a can on everything and use bullseye primer over areas where the original paint may be missing.

Also no rotten wood.

They look good but I think a darker wood for the cabinets would have looked a little better.

If it's the entire floor, depending on the type of wood, it can be a project :) If it's a soft wood like pine... oy.

In our first project, we refinished them after painting everything. Our thought was, since we were pulling up the carpet, it would be easier to not worry about ruining the new finished...

Maybe it's short sighted, but I can see their point.
